Just this past week I saw this AMAZING video that popped up in my newsfeed on Facebook. Apparently it’s been going around for quite sometime so I guess I’m just a little slow on the uptake. Maybe you’ve already seen it. If so, I encourage you to watch it again, because there’s some transformational insight to gain from its short 6:29 minutes.
I loved it when Steve Harvey said,
“Believe it or not, every successful person in this world has jumped.”
They have, haven’t they?! They’ve taken risks to get where they are. They didn’t just sit quietly on their sofa waiting for things to happen to them and for them. They put themselves out there. They believed in themselves and what they had to offer. So yes, they’ve jump!!
Steve went on to say,
“You eventually, you are going to have to jump. You cannot just exist in this life. You have got to try to live. If you are waking up thinking that there has got to be more to life than it is, man, believe that it is. Believe in your heart of hearts that it is, but to get to that life, you are going to have to jump."
The mere thought of just existing makes me sad. I don’t want to go through my life just existing and not living. I know that’s not what I was placed on this earth to do and neither were you.
Then Steve said,
Now, I’ll tell you why I call it jumping. See God, when He created all of us, He gave every last one of us a gift at birth. He never created a soul without endowing them with a gift.”
YES!! That’s so true. We all have gifts!
It took me a while to find mine, but now that I know them I’m not going to go through the rest of my life not using them or not sharing them.
It was at that point in the video that I asked myself, ”Have I really jumped?”
I jump every time I put a program out there…even if the program flops. (This is where my parachute doesn’t always open and I land on the rocks – be sure to watch the video to find out what I mean).
I jump every time I take a new class, connect with someone new, even when I try a new recipe. I even jump when I ask for help (which is not easy for me).
So yes, I jump and I’m going to continue to jump!
It’s in the jumping that I learn and continue to strengthen my gifts. It’s in the jumping that I stop with the status quo and the same old, same old. It’s in the jumping that I keep putting my gifts out there because I know the most selfish thing I can do is keep my gifts to myself. Actually, that’s the most selfish thing any of us can do…keep our gifts hidden because we’re too afraid to jump.
What if you never jumped? Then what?
Would you be OK dying with your gifts still left in you?
Here’s the thing, my friends…
The jumps don’t have to be big. You just have to jump. And if you’re afraid, that’s OK! It’s good to be afraid. That means your jump is important to you. Leverage that fear.
If you’re not sure what your gifts are, not to worry. Seriously!! Engage your curiosity to help you find out. Try different things on for size until you find what fits. When you’re curious you’re actually jumping, not to mention having fun!
Spend some time getting to know your values. Those things that make you, you and that light you up. (For example, love, creativity, intuition…) If you’re not sure what your values are, it’s a-ok…I’ve got you covered. Give me a shout and we can do some cool life blueprinting. (Little secret: That’s a new program that I’m beta testing right now and putting some finishing touches on!! (JUMPING!!!) So excited!!!)
Just do yourself a favor, don’t just exist in this life because you deserve so much more than that. So much more!! You deserve to jump with the knowing that you will always be OK!!
I leave you with this question…
When will you jump and how? (Please feel free to share below.)
Until next time, much love, light, and brightly colored parachutes…
